Subject: Celeb spotting anyone?

Monday 10th May saw this year's Sony Radio Academy Awards ceremony in Grosvenor House. For those outside the radio business, they are awards given for the best in local, regional and national radio in the UK, kind of like the Oscars of UK radio.

To the story... Some of us lucky staff were once again invited along to enjoy an evening of, how should I try to describe it? Well - good food, wine and dare I admit it, celebrity spotting!

It's always a privilege to attend an awards show, particularly when you have worked on the project and get to see the culmination of the past months of work, it also gives you better insight into the project and how much it means to the winners. These awards are always well known for many a photo op for the press as the celebrity list is normally quite long.

This year's show was again hosted by Chris Evans with the celeb list including lisa Snowdon, Fearne Cotton, Celina Scott, Frankie Sandford from the Saturdays, Dermot O'Leary, Richard Madely, Paul Whitehouse, the irrepressible Louie Spence from Pineapple Studios, Jarvis Cocker, Jonny Vaughn and Zane Lowe but our favourites (and our targets to get photos with) were Sir David Attenborough who won a gold award in the Speech Broadcaster of the Year category and Katie Melua who was presenting one of the awards.

Some of the highlights and lowlights were that Adam and Joe finally won an award - good for them, Nick Ferrari (with 5 nominations) didn't win anything, Trevor Nelson won the special Gold Award for lifetime achievement and Chris Evans spectacularly let slip the winner of one of the big awards before it was supposed to be announced!! A very embarrassed host!

The end result - a great time was had by all, we got to meet Sir David, had a little chat with Katie and have the photos to prove it too!

Let's look forward to next year!
